Q & A's
Q & A's
Q: Can you heat up just water, say enough to make two cups of coffee ?
A: The water would have been in contact with the chemicals that react to cause the heat so it wouldn't be advisable to then drink it. You could put the water in a sealed pouch and place that in the outer bag though.

Pretty impressive
I was a bit sceptical about how well this would work, I mean the little sachet of chems in the bag is really going to heat up my food?? But I was pretty impressed, it soon expanded and was hissing and steaming like some kind of nuclear reaction was taking place. Food came out piping hot in a cloud of steam. If you can't be bothered with cleaning pots and pans then this is the way to go.
Pros: Fun to watch, Very effective, Gets really hot, Easy
Cons: Can't re-use
Would recommend: Yes

Best buy so far!
My dad recently purchased some of these flameless ration heaters for a fishing trip we were going on together as I always complain about his sandwiches. We were both surprised at how well they worked and how hot they get, the instructions were simple and very easy to follow and while my meal was heating I didn’t have to worry about watching a stove as it would have done without these packs which gave me more time to get on with the fishing. The meal was done in 10-12 minutes that was stated on the pack and was heated completely although it did need a little stirring. These flameless ration heaters are a must have essential for anyone planning a day outdoors regardless of the activity. We will certainly be purchasing more of these again.
Pros: Easy to follow instructions, Lightweight, Effective
Cons: none
Would recommend: Yes

Adventure Essential!
I recently tried out the flame-less ration heaters at a festival over the weekend. I took a stove with me too, but thought It was a good opportunity to try out the heater for future camping/expeditions. I thought it was great, and did everything claimed on the packet. It really is simple - tear open the bag, pop the ration meal inside, add water, fold and 12 mins later your meal is ready. I was surprised at how well it heated (the water gets REALLY hot) the meal. I didn't expect it to perform that well, but at the end I had a piping hot meal. I may have left the meal in a tad longer than the 10-12 mins, and the ration will need a stir once opened to ensure even heat but for the size and price there is nothing to complain about.
Pros: Very simple cooker, Inexpensive, Compact, Lightweight
Cons: Only can be used once, Creates litter
Would recommend: Yes
