This is a genuine issue British Infantry Bergen straight from the MOD. Any rucksack made for the military is going to be tough, and this is no exception. Rated as one of the best rucksacks around, it is made from tough 1000 denier cordura and offers great resistance to scrapes, tears and abrasion, as well as providing high water resistance.
Designed for soldiers to live out of, these rucksacks are made to carry loads of up to 45kg. Padded shoulder straps and a waist buckle help spread this load and make it comfortable to wear.
Featuring heavy duty clips and buckles, snow closure with draw cord, two zipped compartments in the lid, a small zip front pocket, molle loops either side, heavy duty carrying handle as well as a loop on the underside, this rucksack is made to carry anything you can think of.
With a capacity of around 80 litres, and the option to expand it to close to 100 litres, this rucksack is ideal for long stays in the field, and camping trips that require more kit. If used with the compatible side pouches (sold separately when available), this rucksack extends to a 120 litre capacity. When carrying lighter loads, these particular side pouch zips come together to shrink the size of the pack when the full capacity is not needed. When the side pouches are not in place, a camelbak or similar hydration system can be clipped in place at the side. This versatility makes it a great rucksack for many situations.
Still used in the forces today, these rucksacks can be brought up to date and within regulations with the use of an MTP bergen cover.
It should be noted that whilst most only show signs of general wear and tear, some clips and zips could be damaged.
