The Hurricane was powered by a 12 cylinder 1,030-hp Rolls Royce Merlin engine and had a top speed of 324 mph. It was armed with 8 x .303 Browning machine guns mounted in the wings. The Hawker Hurricane came to be regarded as one of the most rugged and reliable fighters in RAF service.
